Your own mythical creatures!

Post by Ptep on Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:55 pm

This is a place to tell about a mythical creature you've invented, even tell stories about them. I'll put them here on the first post every week or so and clean out the topic after that. So I'll start it off to set an example as to what it should be like...

Avian-cats
Idea by Pteprocks

A little-known subspecies of cat is the Avian-cat, which resulted from a single breeding between a cat and a strange bird-like creature.
Young Avian-cats, called Avian-kittens, are very hard to tell from normal kittens. They appear identical to normal kittens, but on the inside, their skeletal structure is much more similar to that of birds. Their bones are lighter, thinner, and thus more fragile than other cats'. Also, Avian-kittens show small signs of wings that are not yet big enough to be noticible from the outside. A good way to tell a kitten from an Avian-kitten is to feel the kitten around its shoulderblades gently. If done right, one should be able to feel small extra bones around the kitten's shoulderblades that will grow into full-fledged wings as the kitten matures, and can tell that this kitten is an Avian-kitten. Once Avian-cats reach adulthood at 3 years old, they can use their wings for floating down off of high places so they don't hurt themselves when they land (One of the first Avian-kittens died when it jumped off a high ledge onto a hard floor and broke every single bone in all 4 of its legs.), but these wings are not suitable for true flight due to their lack of feathers.
Though Avian-cats are warm-blooded and classified as mammals, females lay eggs rather than giving birth to live young. Avian-cat eggs are about the size of a chicken egg, black, and usually have small yellow or white speckles on them. Like birds, mother wild Avian-cats can be aggressive when one goes near her eggs. However, domesticated Avian-cat mothers tend not to be as aggressive as long as the person is not touching or harming the eggs in any way.
Avian-cat behavior is similar to normal cats, and they are playful, but also territorial. However, they do not fight as aggressively toward each other as cats. Avian-cats communicate with each other and other animals in the same way that cats do, using sequences of "Meows."
Avian-cats live shorter lives than some cats, and longer lives than most birds. The oldest ever recorded Avain-cat was 15 years old at death, and on average, Avian-cats live to be 11-12 years old. Avian-cat's diets are composed mostly of raw fish, and they won't accept most types of cat food and an Avian-cat accepting any type of bird food has never been recorded.
Avian-cats have been domesticated and make wonderful pets. However, they don't breed as often as normal cats, and thus they are rare and an endangered species.
So the next time you see a kitten, you can wonder... Is it an Avian-kitten?

The Twiggly

Post by Jairo M on Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:17 pm

Alright, here is one of mine.

Twiggly (Scroll Creature Counter I.D. NO: 701: The Spiky Feathered Scroll Creature)

A whole count of 183 new Scroll Creatures have been discovered as of 8/14/10! This, is known as a Twiggly, Twiggly are one of the four Scroll Creatures given to new Scrollers that are just starting their journey, with Twiggly being the Air type of the 4. Twiggly can mutate a total of 3 times, such as any other starting Creatures. The mutations of this creature are listed in order: Twiggly, Twiggnire, Twiggscarr, and Twergner. All of which were discovered at the same time in a nest near the borders of the Moonsand Region. At first, they were also thought to be a new type of breed of Cheap-Cheap, or Flieow, other starting creatures, but these theories were soon found false. The Twiggly are nice, and gentle Scroll Creatures, and don't attack unless harmed, or told so. An effect known specifically towards the Twiggly is called "Floke" which in a dire situation, its attack, defense, and notice stats will increase tremendously.

A Sketch of the Twiggly:

Badly drawn with MSN paint... a-heh heh...

The 9-Volt

Post by Jairo M on Tue Sep 28, 2010 7:39 pm

9-Volt (Scroll Creature Counter I.D. No: 009: The Electrical Metallic Ball Scroll Creature)

Being one of the first original 160 Scroll Creatures discovered, the 9-Volt are small, yet powerful Scroll Creatures. Made entirely of metal, scientist under the studies of S.C.s are baffled that this is a living, breathing creature, and not one created by man, such as the Scroll Creature Metaballa. The 9-Volt can mutate a total of two times, in order, its family branch is 9-Volt, 9x2-Volt, and X-Volt[i]. After mutation from 9-Volt to 9x2-Volt, the creature manages to grow a set of arms and be a bit taller and carry more weight, when finally turning into its final stage of the X-Volt, it becomes much bigger and with a set of two antennas instead of just one. There have been many sightings of a new, bigger, and more destructive X-Volt, but, as said, much bigger with more added on to it, could this be a new beginning of a new 9-Volt mutation, only time will tell...

A sketch of the 9-Volt.
