Okay so I'll update this threat with my car at every stage.
EDIT: *Thread. But threat works too.

My dad and I bought the shell of a 1947 Oldsmobile Coupe, and we're going to restore/customize it. It should be done by the time I get my license in 2013. From the outside it will be the same, but the back seat will be replaced with a killer stereo and a rumbleseat will be added (a rumbleseat is a back seat that opens up out of the trunk. Lots of old cars have them, but this particular model never did.)

Okay so the other day we brought the car home and put it in its rented storage garage, lucky number 77. It's right up the road so my dad and I can be there in <5 minutes whenever we want.

[Image notes: No, this wasn't taken Saturday, it was taken the day we were checking it out. But it still looks the same.

Also, I didn't notice until after uploading it but my dad's hand it in it. And he's pointing at the headlights with his pinky finger. Weird.

WHOA IT CAME OUT HUGE. Hang on, resizing.

Okay resized and I took advantage of the forum's cutoff to kinda hide my dad's hand a bit. SECRECY. U b trollin ]

But in all seriousness, I believe you're picturing the junker, not the 'rod.

Okay that sounded less corny in my head.

Anyway the stereo, unlike the rumbleseat, wasn't my idea. I had originally pictured it still with the back seat too. And the back seat's in pretty good shape still.

Lol, that came out wrong, what I mean is... it just doesn't fit...
And I'm picturing it all complete and "pimped" up, it's just no that type of car to combine with Razz But hey, it's just my opinion, I'm not saying I'm right or your wrong. Smile

Yeah I know what you're saying. It was my dad's idea, he did the same thing with his dad for his first car, so I guess the killer stereo might be something his dad got him? Scratch that, doesn't sound like grandpa, maybe something my dad requested.

Anyway, we probably aren't going to get any work done on it until after the holidays, but I'll update after every day of work.

No work done (besides wiping off the "4 SALE" ad) but got some pictures here.

That little plate tells you the year, where it was made, the body style (it's officially a 1947 Oldsmobile 66, where 66 is the size, the smallest of the year. 66 and 68 were the two coupe models.) I've tried to look up all the information, but internet searching is such a headache. All I've found so far is the (possible, the site was very unclear) original color. One site even ripped us off, claiming to have a full report for the car, taking $3 and turning out to not have even one bit of info. Anyway, here's the (possible) original color:

And another under the hood shot. The hood is missing its hinges and is only resting on the front of the car.

The cylinder towards the back is the ignition coil, which electrically creates a spark to start the engine; this is how it was for early electric ignitions. The two boxes are surge protectors that redirect excess power elsewhere.

That's it for today. Epicface
