Spiral Knights on Steam Empty Spiral Knights on Steam

I've not Steam user, I've never been. I'm just curious though, is there any added benefit to playing Spiral Knights via Steam? Does anyone here use Spiral Knights because or on Steam? The game is played via the Steam system, instead of Java. Is it better, or worse?

I don't use Steam either but I believe the only difference is that you can invite Steam friends to play the game and, in doing so, earn the Steam Knight Mask.
