Mythbusters Mishap

The popular show, Mythbusters. A t.v. show about... well, as the name implies, busting myths. Taking legends and debunking them, like testing the 5 sec. rule, can you live a bullet to the chest, etc. Well... this newest episode... doesn't go so well...

I hate to say it, but since nobody was hurt, that's really pretty funny.

Well... that's a little mest up, I mean, they can loose their jobs for that. So no, people were hurt.

I don't know about that. Once you're in that kind of industry, you're never really "out" for good unless you die.

orly? what about something on their file if they apply for a job like that on a similar show, and their file says they killed 50 people and bombed several hugely populated areas on the last show they did, which was almost identical? they would still be alive, but out of the industry for good.

Exactly, a little exaggerated, but still a good example. Why thank you my good sir.

It would work that way for most of us, but once you're known by the people, believe it or not there will be at least a few producers who don't care.

That said, if not a single person was hurt, they're highly unlikely to even lose their current jobs.

yeah, but they may have to do something else. like, for instance, they may get like....relocated to a less populated area place. (they shot a cannon at a target which was some barrels filled with something, and a city/town was over a hill. the cannonball went over the target, and into the town.) so yeah, maybe relocated to like the middle of a desert for the more dangerous experiments...

That's a "duh" moment in the first place, the cannon should have been pointed away from any civilization, whether at a firing range or not. That is a mistake on the shoulders of whoever aimed the cannon.

The firing range was no where near civilization. That's just how far they shoot... so... "derp"

That was exactly my point. No matter how far from civilization it was, it should have been aimed so that it had the longest possible distance. If you have (for example) ten yards to the south, forty yards to the east, seventy to the west and a hundred to the north, you fire to the north, not to the west. I don't know about you, but to me it looked like there was open desert in one of those directions.

Edit again: AND, even if they had aimed it in the best possible direction, they should know how far it's going to fire and check the math. The mishap could've been averted quite easily.

i think they DID try and make sure if was safe, and that the problem was the cannon, not the mythbusters. cannons are powerful. who knows if it moved a bit when it fired or what.

Exactly, as said in the video, they were aiming for those trash bins.
